Slavia Prague is the oldest (already its centenary), and largest Sports Club in the Czech Republic (more than 10 thousands members). Its areas are likewise the largest among our club. Besides the area for a number of sports in Prague 10 - Eden, the club has also pitches and facilities in other parts of Prague, i.e. for rugby, tennis, rowing, canoeing.

It incorporates 21 sports, in all, football, being the most significant, followed by ice - hockey, athletics, handball, land - hockey, volleyball, Basketball, tennis, rugby, swimming, water - polo, diving, canoeing, rowing, speed - skating, archery, skittles, orienteering, cycling.

It also comprises a section of sight - handicapped people and recently also American football. Hockey has a special tradition in Slavia Club.

It is oldest club of hockey in our country. It was established in 1893, but hockey 11 players began to be played in 1921. A member of Slavia, Mr. Řezáč, became a member of the first F.I.H Executive.

At that time Slavia Club had 2 - 4 teams in the top men's competition. All historic materials, as well as archives, however, were burnt to ashes during a fire on the Slavia stand in Prague - Letná where in 1948 the first match after World War II was played against India.

A year later women started their activities. On the compulsory move from Prague - Letná the club acquired its new locality in Prague 10 - Eden, the place of former pond and lunapark on the outskirts of the city. After 1948, Slavia was persecuted and suppressed by the communist regime due to its intellectual and clericalbackground. Players were forbidden to play in their traditional red - and - white shirts with a star on its apex and had to change its name to Dynamo Praha. This state continued until 1968.

At present time we have more then 300 members - hockey players. We organise a number of tournaments from youth to veterans. Our own restaurant and near - by Hotel Slavia help our guests and friends to be content - we have the pleasure to welcome everybody in our Club.
